Continued from part 1...
Fortunately, "the Goat-Man" ends up being Lucy and Jill, who are just returning from their outing. Unfortunately, Connie and several other counselors have been out looking for the two girls. The next morning, Connie reprimands Lucy and sends Jill back to her group. Then Connie informs the girls that they'll be competing head-to-head against the boys in Mr.Zachary's cabin. There will be three contests: archery, canoeing, and a relay race.
Connie plays sports announcer and describes the tournament. As the games progress, Jill once again approaches Lucy about sneaking away. Lucy says no at first, but Jill shames her into agreeing. They meet that night outside Jill's cabin. But Lucy refuses to accompany Jill. Lucy says it's wrong of them to disobey, especially after they've already gotten into trouble for it once. Jill accuses her of wimping out, but Lucy is adamant. Before Lucy can make it back to her cabin, though, the two girls are caught by a counselor.
The next morning, Connie punishes them: She expels Lucy and Jill from Camp What-a-Nut. Connie writes to her mom that it was the toughest thing she's ever had to do. Now she understands how much it must have hurt Whit to fire her-and how hurt God must feel when He has to discipline His people. Connie wraps up her letter, signs off, then adds: "P.S. Tell Whit I said hello."
Questions:
Connie gave Lucy and Jill a warning the first time they disobeyed. How many "second chances" would you give someone who disobeyed? Are there times when it's appropriate to punish without first giving a warning? Donna and Robyn were obsessed with makeup and clothes, while Allison was addicted to TV. Do you have any obsessions that you need to let go of? If so, what are they? Lucy said she was sorry for hurting Connie. What did Lucy mean by that?
