Description:
Erica is tired of being a kid. She doesn't get to do anything fun. She can't drive a car, make long-distance phone calls, or eat and buy whatever she wants. Erica would much rather be an adult who gets to do all of those things. She complains to Whit about her plight, and Mr. Whittaker takes her to the Room of Consequence.
After a bit of quick programming, Erica finds that, on the outside at least, she is the ripe old age of 22. She is pleased, at first. But she soon learns that with adulthood comes enormous responsibility, getting and keeping a job, paying bills, being on time, eating properly, managing finances. The lessons Erica learns are difficult. In the end, she realizes that there is a good reason she's still a kid, Erica's not ready to be an adult yet.
Questions:
Why did Erica want to be older? Why did she fail so miserably at it? Have you ever wished you were older? What are some good things about the age you are right now?
