Description:
Continued from part I...
The Barclay family's exploration of Pokenberry Falls continues. It seems it is a town in decline, run down and going even further downhill. Its teenagers, as evidenced by Ellis’s granddaughter, Amy, live in hopelessness and despair. They long for the day when they can leave the town. Meanwhile, they turn to alcohol, which helps them forget where they live. It’s a town in need of a heart and a soul, a town that needs Jesus. After much thought and prayer, the Barclays decide that this town is where God wants them to be. They say good-bye to Odyssey and hello to Pokenberry Falls.
Questions:
Why did Amy and the kids of Pokenberry Falls feel the need to drink alcohol? George told Mr. Lionel that it wasn’t up to either one of them whether George became their new pastor, but it was up to God. What did he mean? How would the Barclays know if God said “yes” to the job? The Barclays knew that Pokenberry Falls was a place that really needed people who knew Jesus. Where are some places around where you live that really need Jesus?
