Description:
Continued from part I... When Whit finds out about Connie's mission to find out information about him, he confronts Margaret, who claims she is trying to teach Connie to think for herself instead of relying on Whit's opinions. Later that day, through nefarious means, Bart discovers both Connie and Eugene's pay stubs. Bart tries to blackmail Whit into endorsing him by threatening to divulge the fact that Eugene makes three times more money than Connie. Whit laughs at Bart and refuses to be blackmailed, but the salary information is exposed at Margaret's press conference. Whit wants to explain the salary discrepancy to Eugene and Connie, but before he can he receives a letter of resignation from Connie, who feels she must quit because she can no longer trust Whit. Weeks later, Margaret wins the election and Tom Riley, the out-going mayor, seeks out Connie for advice on his farewell address. The story that Tom tells Connie reveals that Whit has set up a trust fund out of her paycheck to pay for her college education, meaning that she is actually paid the same amount as Eugene. Connie returns to Whit's End and apologizes. Then, in a surprise revelation, Connie admits that she was the one who released the paycheck information to the press. She believed that Whit thought Eugene was more capable than she. Whit assures her that she may not have Eugene's technical expertise, but she has a personality that attracts people, especially children. She promises to trust him more if he will give her another chance, to which Whit, of course, agrees. Connie receives an "A" on her paper and can now graduate on time.

Why was Connie so grief-stricken when she found out that Whit made a trust fund for her? If you were Whit, could you have forgiven Connie? Why or why not? What was wrong with the way Bart was campaigning? What was wrong with what Margaret asked Connie to do?
