Description:
In the midst of an important science experiment in Mr. Leonard's class, Heather, Paige, and Alicia are talking about an upcoming costume party. Heather accidentally pours too much acid into their experiment, creating a horrible smell. At Whit's End that afternoon, Julie and Heather are talking about the accident and Heather admits she made the mistake because she is nervous around her lab partner, Alicia, the most popular girl in school. Julie disagrees with Heather's assessment of Alicia and her efforts to be friends with her. Heather gets her hair cut and clothes just like Alicia's and even studies a videotape of Alicia to try to imitate her. Later, Alicia tells Heather that her new hairstyle looks terrible and is very rude to her, calling her a loser. When Heather hears that Alicia is sick and can't attend the costume party, Heather decides to use Alicia's costume and pretend she is Alicia. Heather acts just like Alicia at the party, making herself the center of attention and refusing to hang around with Julie. Disguised as Alicia, Heather finds out what Alicia really thinks about her and hears about a dangerous prank Mark is going to pull. She insists Mark not play the prank, and Mark decides he doesn't like her any more. The next day, Heather tells Whit what a mistake she made trying to be someone else just to impress others, and Whit helps her realize that Alicia probably doesn't have any real friends. Heather goes to Julie's house to apologize for the way she treated her at the party and Julie forgives her. In science class, kids keep coming up to Alicia and treating her differently because of her behavior at the party, and Heather decides to tell her the truth.

Questions:
Why did Heather want to dress up like Alicia? Have you ever wanted to be like someone else? Who? Read Psalm 139 and think about what God must think of us wanting to be like other people. What are some things that God created you with that make you special? Like Chris said, we should strive to be more like Jesus, instead of people who are popular or famous. What does it mean to be like Jesus?
