Description:
Mandy and David come into Whit’s End to find Bernard sitting at the counter. They inquire as to where Mr. Whittaker is, only to find out that he is at home recovering! When they ask what happened, Bernard proceeds to tell them a long drawn out story of the last week’s happenings.
It all began when Richard Maxwell suddenly came in the door at Whit's End. Soon everyone in Odyssey seemed to be acting incredibly strange. Whit started giving bad advice involving piercings and chopping wood with sharp objects. Edwin Blackgaard decided to devote his acting career strictly to show stoppers and food humor. Mr. Riley sold the Timothy Center to Bart Rathbone, who decided to open a FREE space camp as a repayment for all his shady business dealings. Connie and Eugene fell in love and got engaged! Harlow Doyle was actually able to effectively solve mysteries!!
Bernard gathered everyone at Whit's End to discuss the strange events. Everyone finds the others' behavior strange, but thinks their own behavior is normal. Using his new ability to be “lucid and deductive,” Harlow realizes the link to all of Odyssey’s funny business is Richard. Ever since he reappeared, everything has gone completely haywire! Richard dodges answering for awhile, but then reveals his true identity--Regis Blackgaard!
At this point, the kids realize that Bernard didn't start acting funny in his tale. When they inquire as to why, all he can say is “I slap floor.” Whit mysteriously returns, and the
kids are left to try to figure out what the crazy phrase means. All Whit can say is “Don’t believe everything you hear.”
Questions:
What was so strange about Whit's behavior? Eugene's? Tom's? Edwin's? Harlow's? Why did Whit tell the kids "Don't believe everything you hear"? Have you figured out what "I Slap Floor" means?
