Description:
Nick Mulligan is late getting to Whit's End again. Connie has to leave, but she can't leave the shop unattended. Just when all seems desperate, in comes Wooton Bassett, their mailman. Wooton offers to fill in and Connie reluctantly agrees. Wooton and the kids at Whit's End have a great time and he even teaches them Biblical lessons using comic book characters. Whit shows up and thanks Wooton for filling in. But all is not well in Wooton's world. He finds his boss, Mr. Rose, holding his timecard that evening. Wooton has been delayed on his route too often and Mr. Rose has to fire him. Wooton is disheartened, but says he understands. Since Whit's End was part of the reason Wooton was fired, Whit gets Wooton a new job at Speedy Package Express. Speedy Package Express is all about speed. Wooton is supposed to deliver things "lightning fast," but he finds himself continually waylaid with important stops (like Mrs. Randolph's birthday celebration). Wooton can't keep up and decides to quit. Whit visits Wooton and asks him to work at Whit's End instead. A few days later, Wooton shows up to work on Mr. Rose's car and Mr. Rose tells him that he wants to hire him back. All the people on Wooton's route have been complaining about not seeing him. Back at Whit's End, it's the same song, second verse. Nick is late again. Connie has to go. Wooton shows up and insists on filling in. Connie once again reluctantly agrees. It looks like Wooton is here to stay.

Questions:
Why was Mr. Rose upset with Wooton? Why didn't Wooton like his job at Speedy Package Express? Was it right for Wooton to be late for his job to help Connie out? Why or why not? Throughout the Bible, we hear about the importance of good friends. In Philippians 4, Paul said he longed his friends in Philippi. Why do you think it's so important to have friends?
