Description:
Thrills, chills, daring rescues, chases, and winning the heart of the beautiful girl! That’s what Valentine’s Day is all about! At least it is once you hear the true story of St.
Valentine.
In this episode of Kids' Radio, Connie receives a letter from "All Valentined Out," who inquires as to what the purpose of Valentine's Day really is. Connie responds by telling a story. It all began with a man named Valentine who was imprisoned for refusing to renounce his faith and give up his belief that the family is truly the backbone of society. While in prison, he fell in love with Julia, the blind daughter of the prison warden. He prayed for her sight to be restored—and it was! This event brought Julia and her father to Christ.
Eventually, Valentine was given the chance to get out of prison if he would renounce his faith, but he refused. He was executed on February 14. The church declared him a saint, and the day was dedicated in honor and memory of him.
Connie uses this story to teach "All Valentined Out" that St. Valentine's sacrifices have given us a reason to remember and celebrate those we love on February 14.
