Description:
As Mr. Whittaker prepares to get together with his family for Christmas, his daughter calls to say that O'Hare airport has been shut down due to a blizzard! Finding himself alone on Christmas Eve, Whit remembers Christmases gone by. He remembers the Christmas when he could only provide a measly Christmas tree and two presents for his kids. He remembers how thrilled Jana and Jerry were to play with a bell like the one in "It’s a Wonderful Life." Then his memory takes him to a more chaotic Christmas. Jana breaks a glass Wise Man, Jenny drops the turkey, and Jason's toy train catches fire! On another Christmas, the family gathers only a few months after Jerry has been killed in Vietnam. Jenny, Whit, Jana, and Jason receive a package from Jerry that had gotten lost in the mail. As Whit drifts off to sleep, he remembers one more Christmas. The kids are grown and gone and he rediscovers how special it is to spend Christmas just with Jenny. He wakes up on Christmas morning, missing Jenny, and hears scraping noises outside. Lester is shoveling snow from Mr. Whittaker’s sidewalk. Together with his friend, Whit finds a new special way to spend Christmas instead of feeling lonely.
